Elephant safari at Kaziranga

Back at the Prashanti Lodge, we decided to rent an Indica for the next 3 days to take us to Kaziranga and then to Dibru-Saikhowa.

First stop for the day was the Kamakhya temple. The large crowd and signs of animal sacrifice made sure we were out of there quickly

There's a new highway under construction on the way to Kaziranga. The road didn't seem to be officially open to traffic. Traffic was sparse. Our driver probably felt he was in the US - for some inexplicable reason he was driving in the right most lane on the right side of the road!

The villages along the way reminded one of Konkan

We reached Assam Tourism's hotel at Kaziranga by evening. Early next morning we headed to the Bagori area of Kaziranga for an elephant safari. Saw a good number of rhinos. They seemed completely domesticated - oblivious to the presence of so many elephants and tourists around them. Sadly, the instability atop the elephant meant most photos came out blurred.

After breakfast we left for Dibru-Saikhowa. It turned out to be a great experience there!
